Bank Note Typography, Color and Composition
Student Work: Taking typography to a new level and giving it a meaningful “voice” with this redesign of U.S.bank note. This typographic creation of a “new dollar” displays my capacity of consideration of layout, symbolic qualities such as present representations of a country that are relevant to the 21st century plus functional qualities such as prevention of counterfeiting. The design of this currency in Adobe Photoshop also demonstrates my ability to utilize typography and graphics in a nontraditional way while still fulfilling the purpose of communicating the value of a currency and history of the United States. (Images used for educational purposes only) Instructor Feedback: Excellent work. You use an open layout, that signals its relationship to the older currency, but breaks free of it, with a staid and considered sense of modernity and gravitas. The colors are great. The typefaces you've chosen are also well suited for this design. They speak of technology, but also of certainty and banking. I think you've achieved the balance of modern forward looking design with grounding in history and precedent. Well done.
